Specialist Training Courses
Control and restraint course
Many people face a variety of challenges in their employment. Some of these challenges may involve an environment where they are faced with excessively aggressive or violent people. Personal safety and the safety of those under their care are growing concerns for both business managers and their employees.
In addition, businesses have a duty of care to ensure employee and client safety under the Health & Safety Act 1974, the Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate Homicide Bill 2006-7, the Human Rights Act and other relevant legislation to certain industries.
Unfortunately, in order to protect themselves legally, employers will often seek out Home Office approved training that is sold as: Safe, ethical and non harmful techniques in their sales pitch. In the real world, no restraint situation is safe, ethics are scarce and harm is highly likely to come all involved.
Should you watch any UK Police documentary TV series, you will notice that the benchmark inadvertently set by most forces is the ‘Swarm’ method. This frequently consists of a group of officers piling aggressivly on top of a suspect, rolling around on the floor, screaming and shouting, spraying them with CS gas, and with little or no attempt to apply any ‘Home Office approved restraint technique’. This is because, the Police only have to get the handcuffs, and if needed, leg restraints on and their job is almost done. In the UK, unless you are either a Police or Prison/Custody Officer, you are not allowed to use such devices, and therefore will have to rely purely on any physical skills training you have.
This course is a unique chance to learn in the most
practical and high percentage control and restraint (C&R) techniques
there are. If you are looking to start, or already employed in the
security sector (i.e. Police, Prison Service, Security officers, Door
Supervisors, Close Protection Officers, and Event Staff etc) and need
to improve on your existing knowledge, then this is definitely the
course for you. This comprehensive training will give you the confidence
and ability to handle aggressive and violent behaviour in a realistic,
legal and professional manner.
